Let's Pretend Gallery

Long time friends, Andrew and Paul have been kicking around the Melbourne art scene for over 20 years. In between Melbourne lockdowns and long yarns about the lack of artistic community spaces south of Yarra, the idea for Let’s Pretend Gallery was presented to the Stonnington Council. Thanks to a generous arts grant, the idea quickly shifted from concept to brick and mortar location.

Settling into 204 Commercial Road, Prahran – across the road from Prahran Markets and a stone’s throw from Chapel Street – the team (at this point joined by Kepsibel and Vanessa) has converted the two storey former shoe store into a massive ground floor exhibition space and a first floor of artists’ studio.

Determined to highlight the local artistic community that they grew up amongst, Let’s Pretend aims to showcase emerging, mid-career and established artists. An Artist in Residence program is available, and art across all mediums is celebrated, welcome and nourished.

Let’s Pretend plays into Andrew, Kepsibel, Vanessa and Paul’s penchant for a little bit of rebelliousness, a lot of hard work and with a genuine love for fostering creative expression.
