The Jacktar Collective

Collection: Photography

A collective impact of artists experiencing paths of navy life. Well-spirited freelancers converging on the commonality of naval gazing & getting mindless.

An interest of refraction on the surface of water in a controlled environment began the use of submerged torch light, colour filters and mirrors, which contributes to the creative practice of the Jacktar Collective. The expansion of this style is a socially engaged practice called WaveRiders. This initiative engages Australian families in learn to surf programs in surf parks.

The central theme of controlled water bodies intersects both creative frameworks that first surged in the Master of Photography coursework in the RMIT University postgraduate program.
